EPS investigating second fatal pedestrian collision

Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) officers are investigating a second fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in the Inglewood area.

At approximately 9:30 am Monday morning, a pedestrian was crossing 124 Street at 112 Avenue when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

An EPS officer came across the collision, and EMS arrived moments later. EMS treated and transported the 58-year-old male pedestrian to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

The 74-year-old male driver remained on scene. Neither impairment nor speed are suspected to be factors in the collision. Charges against the driver are pending.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has dash camera footage to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.

Including Sunday’s fatal collision, there have now been six pedestrian deaths this year, compared to two for the same time period in 2023.
