One dead, one injured in pedestrian collision

A man is dead and a woman injured after they were hit by an SUV in the Prince Rupert neighbourhood of Edmonton Sunday night.

EPS say an SUV was traveling northbound on 120 Street from 113 Avenue when a male and female were walking on the roadway. The driver did not see the pedestrians and struck them.

The 47-year-old male pedestrian suffered significant injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. The 30-year-old female pedestrian fled the scene on foot and was located at a nearby coffee shop. She was found to have non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EMS.

Neither drugs nor alcohol on the part of the driver contributed to the collision. Major Collision Investigation Section are investigating.
