Edmonton and area under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for:

  • City of Edmonton
  • St. Albert
  • Sherwood Park
  • Fort Saskatchewan
  • Strathcona County
  • Sturgeon County
  • Lamont County

Meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts.

This line of storms is located from Edmonton to Calgary and is moving 50 km/h to the east.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
