Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Edmonton and area

Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the City of Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon County, Strathcona County, and Lamont County.  Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and early this evening.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
