Traffic stop in Sturgeon County leads to drug trafficking arrests

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the evening June 18.  Upon locating the vehicle, police initiated a traffic stop and found copper wire and items consistent with copper wire theft in the box of the truck.  A search of the truck yielded approximately 65 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, Bear spray,  as well as items consistent with drug trafficking.

Maureen Tokes Awoyomi, 45, and Clinton Wade Kneller, 51, were each charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance;
  • Possession of break in tools;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Awoyomi was also charged with failure to comply with release conditions and will be remanded until her next court date on June 20.  Kneller was released from custody before he is due in court on July 11.

“These suspects were arrested because of a vigilant member of the public,“ says Staff Sergeant Terry Hyggen. “We encourage the public to listen to your instincts and if something looks suspicious please call us.”
