New Fort Sask Transit shuttle to Sherwood Park launches July 2

Fort Saskatchewanians will have a new public transit option starting on July 2 with the launch of Route 600 to Sherwood Park.  The new route will offer improved commuter transit options and enhancing regional connectivity with connections on to Edmonton.

“We’re excited about the upcoming launch of the enhanced transit service,” said Lindsey Radford, Transit Supervisor. “The new Route 600 will provide enhanced connectivity and convenience, supporting our community’s transportation needs.”

Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank emphasized the importance of regional cooperation: “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to enhancing transit services throughout the Edmonton region. We’re proud to support Fort Saskatchewan in this initiative.”

Mayor Gale Katchur highlighted the benefits of the new route: “The commuter service between Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park will bridge connectivity gaps, providing a vital link for residents commuting for work, school, and appointments. This aligns with our goal to create a more connected and accessible community.”

Changes to the local routes—renumbered to Routes 610 and 611—will improve reliability and allow connections to the new commuter route.

In celebration of Canada Day, Fort Saskatchewan will offer free transit rides on July 1, 2024. This annual initiative encourages residents to explore the city and enjoy convenient, sustainable transportation options. “We invite everyone to celebrate Canada Day with us and take advantage of complimentary transit rides throughout the day,” Mayor Katchur announced.
