Phase two of Canadian dental care plan rolls out.

Health Minister Mark Holland announced that the Canadian Dental Care Plan has successfully transitioned into Phase 2 of its rollout. The program, initially released in December 2023 with a focus on seniors aged 87 and older. Now, under the program’s criteria, families with a net income below $20,000 qualify for coverage. According to Holland approximately 20,000 individuals receiving dental services within just six weeks of Phase 2’s implementation.

“Almost 11,500 providers representing about 40 per cent of providers across the country are participating. Almost all hygienists, almost all denturists, are participating,” – Mark Holland, Health Minister

The phased approach aims to progressively include more age groups, and step by step extend coverage to a broader part of the population in need.
