Police seeking the public’s assistance in identifying stabbing suspect

EPS are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a serious, unprovoked assault that occurred in early June.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, at approximately 1:16am, Downtown Branch patrol officers were near Muttart Xing and Stadium Road when they were approached by a male security guard that had been stabbed. Reportedly, he had been doing his rounds at a construction site in the area when he became involved in a verbal confrontation with a group consisting of one female and two males. One of the male suspects then stabbed the security guard prior to the group fleeing the location.

The security guard was taken to hospital by EMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The main suspect involved in the stabbing was described as an Indigenous male, 30 to 33 years old, 5’0” tall with a smaller build weighing approximately 110 lbs. He had dark coloured hair, with large lips and gapped teeth. The suspect was wearing a red hat, black pants, black jacket and a white hoodie with a design on the front and a dark jacket.

Anyone who can identify this suspect is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250
