EPS and RCMP arrest inmate who escaped from Edmonton healing lodge back in May

Edmonton police have arrested a federal prisoner who escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre, an Indigenous healing lodge. He was located after Edmonton Police Services observed a suspicious sedan leaving an area in Beaver County where a stolen truck was last seen .

According to reports, the vehicle attempted to speed away from RCMP during a traffic stop but was eventually stopped using tire spikes. The driver fled on foot and attempted to steal another vehicle before being apprehended by police.

Authorities later confirmed that the individual had escaped from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre back in May. He is serving a sentence of six years, nine months, and 16 days for manslaughter involving the use of a firearm.

RCMP say that he is now facing additional charges of flight from a peace officer, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, three counts of illegal possession of government documents and operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

The Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counselling Services of Alberta are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the escape.
