Red Deer RCMP arrest a man who attempted to abduct a child.

RCMP in Red Deer have arrested a man in connection with an attempted child abduction incident.

According to police, the incident occurred on July 6th around 8 PM. The suspect allegedly approached a child under the pretense of searching for a lost cat and offered money to the child to assist him. He then attempted to lure the child away.

A witness intervened upon observing the situation. The suspect reportedly provided false information when confronted and fled the scene.

Following an investigation, Aaron Verner Saville was apprehended. He has been charged with abduction of a person under 14 years old and four counts of failing to comply with release order conditions.

Saville is scheduled to appear in court in August.
