Man who pointed a replica gun at a transit bus, shot by Edmonton police

A man has been hospitalized after being shot by Edmonton police earlier today following reports of him waving a gun and threatening another person.

According to an Edmonton Police Service news release, officers responded to calls of the man waving what appeared to be a handgun on a transit bus. During the confrontation, police discharged their firearms, injuring the man.

He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police confirmed they recovered a handgun replica at the scene.

No other injuries were reported. Alberta’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting
