The smoke awakens

Today is another smoky day.

Today we will have a high of 34° at 4 PM and a low of 24 closer to midnight, calling for yet another sweaty night.

Edmonton has activated their extreme heat response with temperatures expected to go into the 30’s this week. The extreme heat response, initially scheduled to conclude on July 23, has been extended to July 26 due to anticipated high temperatures.

This week, Alberta continues to experience very hot temperatures amidst a record-length heat wave. Edmonton has seen 6 consecutive days above 30°C, matching the all-time record from June 1961. Dense smoke will worsen air quality in Northern Alberta in the coming days, with Southern Alberta possibly affected by smoke from British Columbia. Residents in fire-prone areas are advised to prepare a grab-and-go kit in case of evacuations.
