Albertans are rallying together today for the “Alberta Day Of Caring for Jasper,” a province-wide bottle drive aimed at supporting victims of the Jasper wildfire. Running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the initiative encourages residents to donate their empty bottles and cans to benefit the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Fires Appeal.
In a significant show of support, both the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta have pledged to match every dollar contributed to the appeal. The funds will assist those affected in Jasper and other wildfire-stricken areas across Alberta, providing immediate and ongoing relief. This includes financial assistance, support for evacuees and host communities, recovery and resilience efforts, and initiatives to enhance community preparedness and risk reduction for future disasters.
This means that every $1 donated will become $3 to support those affected by the wildfires. Eligible donations already received will be matched.
Participants are encouraged to take their empties to any bottle depot and simply inform the staff, “These are for Jasper.” Donations can also be made directly at albertadayofcaring.com.
Mix 107-9 is joining radio stations across Alberta in promoting the bottle drive and supporting the Jasper community during this challenging time.
