Plane carrying 62 people crashes in Brazil

A plane carrying 62 people crashed today in a residential area of the city of Vinhedo in São Paulo state. It is not yet clear how many individuals were injured or killed in the incident.

Voe Pass, the airline involved, confirmed the crash but did not specify the cause of the accident in its statement.

During an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva addressed the crowd and requested a moment of silence, sharing the news of the crash. He indicated that it appeared all passengers and crew had perished but did not provide further details on his knowledge of the situation.

Firefighters, military police, and civil defense authorities have been dispatched to the crash site. Brazilian television network GloboNews aired footage showing a large area ablaze and smoke billowing from what appeared to be the plane’s fuselage. Additional footage showed the plane descending vertically and spiraling as it fell.
