Suspect in Lower Mainland attempted murder may be headed to Alberta: Police

Surrey RCMP have identified 33-year-old Kalid Yimer as the prime suspect in a violent attempted murder case from August 2. Yimer, who stands 5’6″ with dark hair and brown eyes, is described as potentially dangerous and may be in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia or traveling towards Alberta.

The attempted murder took place at approximately 1:10 p.m. in Surrey, where the victim suffered severe injuries and remains hospitalized. Following the attack, police recovered a stolen vehicle linked to Yimer on August 3 with help from the public. Despite this progress, Yimer remains at large.

Surrey RCMP are urging anyone with information on Yimer’s whereabouts to contact authorities immediately. “Given the severity of the incident, Kalid Yimer is considered violent and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach and call 9-1-1,” warned Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha of Surrey RCMP.

Residents in Edmonton and surrounding areas are advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police. The RCMP have released an enhanced photo of Yimer to aid in his capture and warn the public of his potential threat.
