Man arrested after assaulting officer and attempting to steal police car in Edmonton

A man has been arrested in Edmonton after a dramatic incident involving assault and an attempted theft of a police vehicle. According to a news release from yesterday, the events unfolded around 8:20 a.m. on August 19th.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a male driver and female passenger found unresponsive in a Kia Optima at 107th Avenue and 149th Street. When the driver awoke, he aggressively rammed the officers’ vehicles multiple times.

After exiting his car, the driver attempted to enter a police vehicle and drive away. Officers intervened, and during the arrest, the suspect resisted and assaulted one of the officers.

A search of the suspect’s car revealed drugs and ammunition. The man is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.
