Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Disturbing Public Assaults in Hinton and Edson

Hinton RCMP have apprehended Samuel Hewins, an 18-year-old from Brule, AB, in connection with a series of alarming incidents that took place on August 19, 2024, in Hinton and Edson. Hewins faces several serious charges, including three counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, voyeurism, and multiple counts of disguise with intent.

The arrest follows disturbing reports from that day in which an unknown male suspect was accused of approaching several women in public, forcibly pulling down their pants, and photographing them. The incidents, which sparked significant concern in both communities, led to an intensive investigation by the RCMP.

Despite the nature of the charges, Hewins has been released on a release order and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Hinton.
