Grow Your Own Harvest Festival this weekend!

The annual Grow Your Own Harvest Festival is set to take place tomorrow, August 24, at Legacy Park in downtown Fort Saskatchewan. The event will showcase a variety of fresh vegetables grown by local Fort Sask youth as part of a community gardening initiative.

The festival will feature a veggie market, offering an array of produce from local youth growers. In addition to the market, attendees can explore numerous vendor booths, enjoy games and face painting for children, participate in a silent auction, and listen to live music. One of the highlights of the day will be a space balloon launch, adding a unique touch to the festivities.

Any unsold produce from the event will be donated to the Red Water, Gibbons, and Fort Saskatchewan food banks.

The Grow Your Own Project, which has been running for a decade, encourages youth aged 14 and under to engage in sustainable practices through community gardening. Over the past ten years, the initiative has contributed tens of thousands of pounds of vegetables to local food banks, supporting both the project and the festival.
