Edmonton Valley Line LRT derails after collision

The front of an Edmonton Valley Line LRT train derailed earlier today following a collision with a truck at the intersection of 75 Street and Roper Road, near Davies Station. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. and led to the suspension of LRT service for the morning.

One person was hospitalized as a precautionary measure following the crash. The collision involved a northbound LRT train and a truck and trailer, resulting in the truck being separated from its trailer and the front of the LRT train derailing.

Marks on the road indicated where the train had left the rails, and initial assessments suggest significant damage to the front of the train.

Service disruptions are expected as crews work to assess and repair the damage.
