Over $900K in contraband seized from Edmonton prison

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has reported the seizure of contraband with an estimated institutional value of nearly $1 million from a maximum-security facility in northeast Edmonton.

On August 19, authorities at the Edmonton Institution confiscated a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine, THC, and cell phones, which are classified as contraband and unauthorized items.

The CSC is currently investigating the incident and has announced increased measures to enhance security and prevent future contraband entries. These measures include the implementation of a telephone tip line to gather information on activities related to security within the institution.
