Back to school tomorrow! Here is a guide to help you lose those nerves… a little

If you are not in school, you are either excited that the kids are going to be out of the house for six hours or don’t care, but if you are in school you’re probably dreading it.

There’s lot to think about when preparing for back to school, like transit, what to wear, what time you’re gonna need to get up.

While I can’t help you decide your first day of school outfit, here’s what I can help with;

Transit

Edmonton Transit and local police have unveiled a new initiative, “Here to Help,” designed to enhance safety for students and other transit riders.

Announced today, the campaign will see additional transit peace officers deployed to key LRT stations and transit centres across the city over the coming weeks. These officers will be on patrol and engaging with riders during peak hours—7 to 9 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.—to ensure a secure transit experience.

The campaign also includes several security upgrades: 4,000 security cameras throughout the transit system, blue emergency phones on all LRT platforms and at transit centres, and enhanced safety features such as red alarm buttons, red pull handles, and yellow alarm strips on all LRT trains

Other transportation

All families using EIPS Student Transportation services for the 2024-25 school year have received a tentative route schedule and the applicable invoice. Transportation fees are now due and can be paid onlineBus passes and updated route information are mailed to families in August.
