Shooting in St. Albert leaves teen injured

A shooting early this morning on Hunchak Way has left one 17-year-old male youth injured and two others with minor injuries. The St. Albert RCMP responded to the report just before 1:00 am on Monday, finding the injured youth who was promptly taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old female and another 17-year-old male, who were also in the vehicle, were treated for minor injuries.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the youths were initially traveling on Grovesner Blvd. They reportedly had a brief confrontation with a white van with tinted windows. Following this encounter, the van pursued the teens to the intersection of Levasseur Road and Grandin Road, where gunfire erupted from the suspect vehicle. The van then fled west on Levasseur Road, while the victims continued to Hunchak Way to await emergency services.

Police are appealing to residents with surveillance cameras to review footage from 12:30 am to 1:00 am and report any sightings of the suspect vehicle or suspicious activity.
