St. Albert Sees Robust Population Growth in 2024 Census

The City of St. Albert has announced preliminary results from its 2024 Municipal Census, revealing a notable population increase. According to the initial data, St. Albert’s population has risen to 72,316, reflecting a substantial 9.2% growth from the previous census conducted in 2018. This increase of 6,234 residents underscores a period of significant expansion for the city.

In addition to the population growth, the census results indicate a considerable rise in the number of dwellings within the city. St. Albert now boasts 29,549 dwellings, marking an addition of 3,466 units since 2018. This total encompasses all types of dwellings, including occupied, vacant, and those currently under construction.

The city is now embarking on a thorough analysis of the census data to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness. A detailed report will be submitted to the City Council and made publicly available online this fall. The census, which took place from May 27 to June 27, provides a snapshot of St. Albert’s demographic and housing landscape, reflecting ongoing urban development and population growth.

As the city continues to expand, these figures will play a crucial role in planning and resource allocation, shaping the future development of St. Albert.
