The NDP is terminating its supply and confidence agreement with the Liberal Party.
Jagmeet Singh, the federal NDP leader, informed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today that he is ending the party’s support for the minority government.
The deal, established in 2022, saw the NDP agree to support the Liberal government until June 2025 in exchange for progress on key priorities.
Under the agreement, New Democrats advanced initiatives such as dental care and pharmacare.
The NDP caucus will convene in Montreal next week. Singh has faced pressure from caucus members, with some arguing that the agreement has outlived its usefulness as they have achieved most of their objectives.
