Elks announce half a million dollar donation to amateur football

The Edmonton Elks have pledged $500,000 to five amateur football organizations, thanks to proceeds from the 50/50 raffle at the 2018 Grey Cup.

The Edmonton Huskies and Wildcats of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) will each receive $102,000. The University of Alberta Golden Bears will be awarded $100,000 for its football program. Additionally, Football Alberta will get $106,000, and Capital District Minor Football will receive $40,000.

This donation is part of the Elks’ ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots football as they vie to host Canada’s top football championship again. The CFL’s decision on whether Edmonton will host the 2024 Grey Cup will be announced during the weekend of the event in Vancouver.
