Parkland RCMP responded Monday to a report of a break and enter involving potential extortion with a firearm at a residence in Parkland County. Upon arrival, police safely removed the homeowner from the property and conducted an immediate search of the home.
Inside the residence, officers located two suspects along with a loaded 9 mm handgun. During the break-in, one of the suspects sustained significant injuries after being attacked by the homeowner’s large dog. The injured suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment before being taken into police custody.
Following the investigation, Edmonton resident Jeante Michael Maddox, 41, has been charged with multiple serious offences, including break and enter, extortion with a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Maddox has been remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for September 25 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
The second suspect, Alexander James Kuzniarski, 40, also of Edmonton, faces similar charges, including break and enter, extortion with a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order. Kuzniarski’s court appearance is set for September 10 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
The Parkland RCMP continues to investigate the incident, commending officers for their swift response that ensured the homeowner’s safety and the apprehension of the suspects.
