Banff RCMP officer charged for break and enter

An RCMP officer from Banff is facing charges following a break-and-enter incident that took place nearly two years ago.

Constable Garret Claxton has been charged in connection with an October 2022 incident where he allegedly unlawfully entered a hotel room occupied by two women. The women had reportedly interacted with Claxton earlier that evening.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) announced the charges on September 4, 2024. Claxton is scheduled to appear in court on September 25, 2024.

As the case is now before the courts, further details are not being released.
