Ukrainian National Federation vandalized

The Ukrainian National Federation (UNF) building in Edmonton was vandalized on Saturday morning. The front of the building was defaced with a large “Z,” a symbol commonly used in Russian propaganda to show support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

This incident marks the second time the UNF building has been targeted since the Russian invasion began. The first attack occurred in May 2022, when swastikas were painted on the building.

According to reports, the man who spray-painted the symbol was not charged. Security personnel who responded to the incident did not immediately recognize the symbol as hate speech.

The UNF and local authorities are continuing to address the situation as investigations proceed.
