St. Albert Botanic Park gets new garage

St. Albert Botanic Park has officially opened a new garage designed to provide its gardeners with more space and improved facilities. The grand opening took place on Friday, attended by approximately 40 volunteers and guests.

The new garage was funded with $75,000 from the provincial government, $60,000 from the City of St. Albert, $6,000 from Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., and additional funds raised by park volunteers.

While many improvements to the garden over the past 30 years have focused on enhancing visitor experiences, this new facility aims to better support the dedicated volunteers who maintain the park.

Previously, volunteers stored and maintained equipment across two garages and a sea can on-site. One of the garages was unheated, and the other was connected to the park’s rental room, exposing renters to potential fumes. The new addition will address these concerns, creating a safer and more efficient workspace for volunteers.
