Fatal shooting of Edmonton man in B.C. linked to gang conflict

Homicide investigators have identified the victim of a weekend shooting in Langley as 38-year-old Johnathan Hebrada-Walters from Edmonton. Mounties responded to reports of gunfire in the area, finding two men with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene, while the other is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

Initial findings indicate that the shooting was targeted and linked to gang conflict. Hebrada-Walters was reportedly “known to police.”

In a statement released by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Monday, they confirmed the deceased’s identity and noted that the surviving victim was also known to police.

Investigators are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on September 21 to reach out to IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or via email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
