Evander Kane out for recovery after surgery

Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers underwent successful abdominal surgery last Friday, addressing both abductors, two hernias, and two abdominal tears. The forward is expected to face a recovery period of 5 to 6 months.

Kane, who turns 34 next month, will rehabilitate in Edmonton under the care of the Oilers’ medical staff. Last season, he tallied 44 points, including 24 goals, in 77 regular-season games and added eight points, four of them goals, in 20 playoff contests.

However, Kane was sidelined during the Stanley Cup Final, missing five of the seven games against the Florida Panthers.
