Legacy Jewellers Hosts Third Annual BBQ to Support Minor Hockey Girls League

Fort Saskatchewan’s community spirit was on full display as Legacy Jewellers hosted their third annual BBQ on September 28th, 2024, in support of the Minor Hockey Girls League. The event, held at Legacy Jewellers’ storefront, brought families together for an afternoon filled with food, fun, and a shared commitment to local youth.

This year’s BBQ wasn’t just about good eats—it was about celebrating young female athletes and reinforcing a sense of community. Each player in the Minor Hockey Girls League was gifted a personalized necklace, a thoughtful touch that has become a hallmark of the event. While last year’s necklaces showcased team names, this year’s keepsakes featured each girl’s first initial, adding a personal and memorable touch.

Store owner Omar Bakali emphasized the importance of supporting the local community, stating, “We love being part of the Fort Saskatchewan community and supporting our local youth. This event allows us to connect with the families and show our appreciation for the girls’ dedication to the sport.”

The BBQ, prepared fresh at the store, served as a laid-back, family-friendly gathering where hockey families and the community at large could socialize and enjoy a break from the rink. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, as smiles, laughter, and a few well-deserved compliments on the grill filled the air.

Legacy Jewellers’ annual BBQ is more than just a meal—it’s a showcase of the store’s commitment to fostering community spirit and supporting local youth. By making this event a yearly affair, they’ve created lasting memories for the young players and their families while underscoring their dedication to Fort Saskatchewan’s future leaders on and off the ice.
