Morinville RCMP investigate suspicious church fire on Alexander First Nation

On September 30th, Morinville RCMP responded to reports of a church fire on Highway 642 and Range Road 272 on the Alexander First Nation. Upon arrival, they found the Roman Catholic church engulfed in flames.

Fire departments from the Alexander First Nation, Sturgeon County, and Morinville worked together to bring the blaze under control. Unfortunately, the church sustained extensive damage and is believed to be a total loss.

The Morinville RCMP has taken over the investigation and will collaborate with a fire investigator to determine the cause of the fire. While it is early in the investigation, RCMP officials believe the fire may be suspicious in nature.
