Edmonton hot tub repairman charged with fraud

A local hot tub repairman has been charged with multiple counts of fraud following an investigation by Edmonton police.

Fifty-five-year-old Kenneth David Nicholls is facing allegations after receiving complaints from customers who reported he failed to perform repairs and services for which he had been paid. In July, police began their investigation after two individuals claimed they had paid Nicholls a combined total of $4,700, only to have him cease all communication.

Initially, police received 17 complaints, but the number eventually grew to 31 as more customers came forward. The investigation uncovered that Nicholls allegedly took payments for nearly $100,000 worth of services that were never delivered.

Nicholls has been charged with 32 counts of fraud under $5,000, four counts of fraud over $5,000, three counts of theft over $5,000, and seven counts of theft under $5,000.
