Boston Bruins sign goalie Jeremy Swayman to 8-year, $66M Contract

The Boston Bruins have signed goaltender Jeremy Swayman to an eight-year contract worth $66 million, just ahead of the regular season opener against last year’s Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers.

The team announced the signing yesterday, noting that the deal will carry a salary cap hit of $8.25 million per season and includes a no-trade clause.

Swayman entered the season as a restricted free agent, and both parties opted not to file for arbitration before the July deadline. According to Bruins president Cam Neely, the negotiation was challenging.

The Bruins initially offered a $64 million contract, but Swayman’s agent provided a strong counteroffer. With this new deal, Swayman will join just six goaltenders in the NHL with a cap hit exceeding $6.4 million for the 2024-25 season.
