Four individuals arrested for kidnapping in Northern Alberta; 1 more suspect on the lose

Police have charged four individuals with kidnapping and multiple weapons offences following an incident in John D’Or Prairie, located eight hours north of Edmonton. A fifth suspect remains at large.

The events unfolded last week during an attempted traffic stop when the suspects allegedly collided with two police vehicles in an attempt to evade capture. Following a pursuit, officers were able to disable the vehicle, at which point five suspects fled on foot. A sixth individual remained in the car and was later identified as a victim of kidnapping.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities recovered a sawed-off shotgun and a replica handgun during the arrests of the four suspects.
