Life in the Heartland’s Fall Info Eve Connects Community and Industry

Life in the Heartland is set to host its Fall Info Eve on Wednesday, October 9, at the Moyer Recreation Centre in Josephburg, where attendees will have the chance to get up close and personal with the industrial heavyweights shaping Alberta’s Industrial Heartland.

“It’s a chance for members of the community to speak face-to-face with representatives from the big players in the region,” said Sheena Fitzpatrick, Community Engagement Director for Life in the Heartland. “This is a great opportunity for residents to come out and get more information on some of the projects that those companies have going on.”

With more than 15 companies setting up booths, attendees can expect a trade-show style open house with the opportunity to talk face-to-face with industry reps. The formal program kicks off at 6:00 pm, featuring presentations from Dow Canada, ATCO Energy Systems, and Shell Scotford.

Life in the Heartland, established in 2009, is a collaborative effort between several local organizations, including Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association and Heartland Air Monitoring Partnership. The group aims to provide clear, reliable information to residents about industrial operations in the region and facilitate an ongoing dialogue between the community and the industries that call Alberta’s Industrial Heartland home.

Doors open at 5:00 pm, and the event is free to attend and offers complimentary refreshments and snacks in addition to shedding light on ventures in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland. As Fitzpatrick put it, “The Fall Info Eve allows the public to hear directly from Industrial Heartland companies, there’s a lot of exciting activity happening in the region right now, so opportunities for community engagement are more important than ever.”
