Edmonton police report that a 17-year-old girl and a 77-year-old woman were struck in two separate incidents this morning.
The first incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. when the teen was southbound in the east crosswalk on 103 Street at 107 Avenue. She was hit by a Hyundai Santa Fe traveling eastbound. The girl was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
In the second incident, the 77-year-old woman was believed to be in a crosswalk on 105 Street and 80 Avenue when she was struck by a different Hyundai Santa Fe attempting to make a left turn onto 80 Avenue. She was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not injured but has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Police continue to investigate both incidents. Investigators don’t believe speed or alcohol were a factor in either collision.
