Weaverley Daycare in Edmonton ordered to close by Alberta government

The Alberta government has ordered the closure of Weaverley Daycare in Edmonton, impacting 54 children.

The daycare had been placed on a probationary licence due to non-compliance issues, with the probation set to expire at the end of October. However, Child Care Licensing officials determined the facility should cease operations due to ongoing concerns and increased risks.

Parents affected by the closure of the program were notified in person on Oct. 10. Parents not informed in person were notified by email using the contact information provided by the child-care provider. In addition, the Notice of Cancellation, which describes the reason for a licence cancellation, was posted on the door of the facility.

Anyone with concerns about a child-care program in their community or needing to report an incident is encouraged to call Child Care Connect toll-free at 1-844-644-5165.
