EPS are probing the death of a 68-year-old man who was found injured on a walking path beneath the Dudley B. Menzies Bridge on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred next to the High Level Bridge, has been deemed suspicious, and the EPS Homicide Section has taken over the investigation.
Authorities were alerted around 9:15 p.m. on October 11, when the injured man was discovered on the footbridge. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, providing initial treatment before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, which investigators hope will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the death. In the meantime, the EPS is reaching out to the public for assistance. Staff Sergeant Rob Bilawey of the Homicide Section noted that several pedestrians and e-bike riders were in the area at the time of the incident and may hold critical information.
“We are asking anyone with information to contact police immediately,” said Bilawey, adding that footage from GoPro or similar cameras could provide valuable insights.
