Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Highway 16 west of Edmonton

Police in Alberta are investigating a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Highway 16, west of Edmonton, last night.

The Evansburg RCMP reported that the pedestrian was struck while walking westbound on the highway before 9:50 p.m. The victim’s body has been transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Edmonton, and authorities are working to confirm their identity.

A section of Highway 16 was closed for several hours following the incident but has since reopened.

RCMP are urging any drivers who were on Highway 16 between 9 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. last night, or anyone who witnessed a pedestrian on the highway, to come forward with information. . They can call 780-727-4446 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
