St Albert city council being urged to allow drive-thru’s in fear of businesses going elsewhere

Developers are calling on St. Albert city council to reconsider proposed zoning restrictions that could block drive-thrus in the East Village development along St. Albert Trail.

Ray Watkins, representing Landrex, told council that businesses such as Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, and Waves Coffee House may look for other locations if drive-thrus are not permitted.

Watkins proposed two alternatives: allow drive-thrus in the current zoning or rezone the commercial areas of East Village as Corridor Commercial, which would permit drive-thrus.
