4.5-magnitude earthquake strikes near Grande Prairie, no damage reported

GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. — Officials have confirmed a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred Friday afternoon approximately 40 kilometres from Grande Prairie.

The quake, which Earthquakes Canada reported as lightly felt in McBride, B.C., struck around 3:13 p.m. local time. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

This is the second earthquake to hit the area this month. On Oct. 6, a 4.1-magnitude quake was recorded nearly 100 kilometres from Grande Prairie, also with no reports of damage or injuries.
