Dow invests $9M to support Fort Saskatchewan community investments

The spirit of gratitude continues in the Heartland following last month’s announcement by Dow to invest more than $9 million in the communities. Its funding is purposed to have lasting impacts across the region.

Key Projects supported by Dow

$5.6 M CAD for a new aquatics facility in Fort Saskatchewan

$1.2 M CAD for a reserve fund to ensure recreation and cultural programs are accessible to those in need.

More than $2 million CAD was awarded to the Fort Saskatchewan Nourishment Centre, including $1.2 million CAD for a building fund; resources to support a community kitchen; and funding for a refrigerated vehicle that would help deliver services to some of the area’s most vulnerable residents.

$350,000 CAD grant to Ducks Unlimited in support of conservation on the Prairie Potholes near Lacombe, Alberta.

A $150,000 CAD grant to support STEM and skilled trades education for Indigenous students in partnership with Trade Winds to Success, Indspire and the University of Alberta. “These partnerships represent our commitment to creating positive impact within the communities where we operate,” said Don Cameron, site director of Dow Alberta Operations. Of the notable ones is investment in the Fort Saskatchewan Nourishment Centre in improving food security within the community.
