18-year-old woman killed in collision west of Edmonton

An 18-year-old woman is dead following a collision between her SUV and a school bus on a highway west of Edmonton.

The crash occurred around 2:12 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Highway 627 and Range Road 273. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

The school bus driver, who was the only occupant of the bus, sustained non-serious injuries and was also hospitalized.

Parkland RCMP believe the SUV was travelling south on Range Road 273 and crossing Highway 627 when it was struck by the eastbound school bus.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
