2 people in the hospital after a collision caused by a recliner that fell off a truck

Edmonton police are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that was hauling a recliner on Yellowhead Trail Wednesday evening, after the recliner fell out of the truck and led to a collision

Police say that around 9 pm… officers responded to a report of the collision on Yellowhead Trail and Winterburn Road

According to police, the recliner had fallen out of an older model, dark-coloured pick up that was heading west

The driver stopped to get the recliner and while this was happening a Toyota Corolla going the same direction slowed and stopped to avoid hitting it and was rear ended by a Chevrolet Avalanche

The driver transporting the recliner fled the scene after seeing the collision

Crews arrived and took a 46-year old woman, the driver of the Corolla to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. The 79 year-old driver of the Avalanche was also taken to the hospital as a precaution

If anyone has any information regarding the driver of the pickup truck, or footage of the collision, they are asked to contact police at 780-423-4567.
