Man charged after abducting mother and daughter southeast of Edmonton

A mother and her 12-year-old daughters have been abducted by a family friend in Viking, Alberta on Wednesday

The woman called the police just after 5 p.m. In a news release, RCMP said that they were both being held against their will in a moving vehicle. The release added that the man was “driving recklessly” and “acting irrationally,”

With a tire deflation device and multiple RCMP vehicles, police got him to stop. The victims were unharmed and the driver, 66 year-old resident of Viking, was arrested

He is facing a number of charges, including abduction of a person under 14 and two counts of forcible confinement.

He is scheduled to appear in court next week
