McDavid becomes fourth fastest player to get 1,000 points in the NHL

Connor McDavid continues to cement his place in NHL history, officially becoming the fourth-fastest player to reach 1,000 career points. The milestone happened during the Edmonton Oilers’ 3-2 victory over the visiting Nashville Predators last night.

McDavid hit the mark with a second-period goal, set up by Leon Draisaitl on a two-on-one rush that tied the game 1-1. Only hockey legends Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Mike Bossy reached the milestone faster.

Despite dealing with an ankle injury that sidelined him for a week, McDavid has been a a force to be reckoned with this season, racking up 18 points in 14 games. He’s currently on pace to reach 107 points, which would mark the eighth time in his career he’s surpassed the 100-point milestone.

The Oilers are riding high after last night’s victory and will head east to face the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow at 5 p.m.
