A tale of two extremes?

Normals for today are -6 for the high, and -14 for the low.  Keep that in mind as you continue reading.  All week, the forecast is for daytime highs that make better overnight lows, with the temperature dropping to -19 this afternoon.  Daytime highs for the rest of the week will be in the lower half of the minus-teens, and lows into the -20s.  Then, as if by magic, the weekend calls for highs above freezing.  Would anybody else be okay if Mother Nature would give us a stretch of normal winter weather?
