Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi is being countersued for defamation. Bob Rai and Abdusselam Huzeyfe Bezirgan accused Sohi of abusing his influence as a federal minister to benefit him and his family. This lawsuit is a counter against the lawsuit Sohi filed against Rai and Bezirgan, as well as another individual named Varinder Bhullar. Sohi accused the three Albertans of making defamatory statements about him with the intent to harm his reputation. Rai and Bezirgan are seeking over three-million dollars in damages, saying their statements were made in good faith and were truthful.
